The engagement

An engagement may cover financial fact-finding and reviews of governance or applicable anti-money laundering controls. The scope establishes permitted access, reporting responsibilities and intended use of findings. Acceptance depends on the expertise and professional requirements of the assignment.

Scope of work

  • Financial record review, transaction tracing and reconciliation
  • Financial controls and governance process reviews
  • Whistleblower-related financial fact-finding within an authorised scope
  • PMLA and AML obligations where applicable to the entity or engagement
  • Coordination with legal, information security and data protection specialists where needed

Engagement deliverables

Work may produce a factual findings report, exceptions register or remediation plan. Findings distinguish evidence from allegations and do not establish criminal liability.

How the work begins

  1. Describe the requirement. Identify the entity, proposed transaction or matter and any deadline.
  2. Review acceptance and scope. We assess the facts, competence, independence and other relevant professional requirements.
  3. Agree written terms. Confirm responsibilities, records, deliverables and the intended use of the work.

Common question

Do AML requirements apply identically to every business?

No. Applicability and responsibilities require assessment of the entity, activities and relevant legal provisions.
