The engagement

We assist individuals with reviewing their Indian tax and related documentation requirements. Advice depends on travel history, income, asset ownership and the countries involved.

Scope of work

  • Residency and returning-resident analysis, including RNOR where applicable
  • Indian income, property sale taxation and withholding review
  • Treaty relief and India–UAE tax questions where relevant
  • NRE, NRO and FCNR account and remittance requirements within the agreed scope
  • Forms 15CA and 15CB where required; gifts, inheritance and non-resident investment questions

Engagement deliverables

An engagement may produce a residency analysis, tax computation, transaction checklist or remittance documentation. Banking decisions and overseas legal advice remain with the relevant institution or adviser.

How the work begins

  1. Describe the requirement. Identify the entity, proposed transaction or matter and any deadline.
  2. Review acceptance and scope. We assess the facts, competence, independence and other relevant professional requirements.
  3. Agree written terms. Confirm responsibilities, records, deliverables and the intended use of the work.

Common question

Does overseas residence automatically establish non-resident tax status?

No. The applicable rules and individual facts must be examined for the relevant period.
